Dr. Habib is a consultant in culture and arts. He is an accomplished actor, producer, playwright and theater director. He is a prominent figure who has made a remarkable impact in the field.

For over 35 years, Dr. Habib Al Attar has been a noteworthy figure in the GCC Arab film industry. Born in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, he discovered his acting talents performing in school plays. Being in love with performing since his childhood, Dr. Habib pursued his studies and holds a Degree in Acting and Directing from Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Kuwait (1987), where he topped the class at the university. A diploma of graduate studies in Dramatic Directing in Cairo, Egypt (1995), and got his PhD in Drama from Manchester in the United Kingdom (1999).

 

Aside from being GADHA’s expert in Culture and Arts, He is the Secretary General of the Theatrical Association and a founding member of the Ras Al Khaimah National Theatre. He used to be the Director of Culture and Community Activities at the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development and held several official positions in artistic and cultural institutions. 

Dr Habib has participated in local and international theatrical festivals, cultural gatherings, theatre, television and radio as an actor, author, director, writer, lecturer, critic, member of judging committees, member of studies and research committees, and guest of honour. He also oversaw many theaters training courses as a supervisor and lecturer from 1987 until today.

 

Dr Habib’s many publications include: The Efforts of Directors in Establishing and Developing Theatre in the Emirates; Music of Language; The Indigenous Elements in Arab theatre; The Impact of Economic and Social Variables on Gulf Theatre, and A Study of Theatre in the Emirates. He has also written several theatrical scripts, such as Humoom Sagheerah; Oghneiat AlAkhras; Al Maseer; Ayshah, and Matha Ba’d.

 

He's appeared in a string of movies, most notably the first Emirati-made feature film, City of Life (2009), directed by Ali Mostafa, and also Mostafa's internationally acclaimed thriller The Worthy (2016)
